SouthSide Early Childhood Center is currently seeking an Administrative Assistant. Position hours are from 9:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m., pay is $14/hour.
The Administrative Assistant is the “face of SouthSide,” setting the tone for children, parents, staff and visitors as the first person to greet them as they enter our early childhood center.
Performs high-level administrative support by handling information requests and performing clerical functions such as preparing correspondence, receiving visitors and children, maintaining electronic and manual records, assisting with parent meetings and events, answering and screening calls and presenting a positive image of SouthSide to visitors and parents. Reports to the Family Partnership Manager and Center Director for certain tasks.
Admits parents and visitors to center and answers questions as needed
Answers front desk telephone, assists callers, transfers calls or takes messages as needed
Makes daily attendance calls for absent children and maintains attendance records in the system
Maintains all SouthSide child files; verifies completeness of required information and follows up as needed
Helps Family Partnership Director and Family Advocate obtain necessary information and documents from parents
Opens mail, logs checks received in the mail, endorses the check and forwards to Office Manager for deposit
Collects and records parent fee payments in the receipt book
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information
Assists with special classroom projects, classroom and family communications via various technological avenues, and special events like parent committee meetings, events, picnics, etc.
Assists with parent recruitment and logistics planning for parent events and meetings
Completes Early Head Start/Head Start applications for potential families and orientations for enrolling children
Translates written material into Spanish
Other duties as assigned
High School Diploma or GED required
1+ years' experience in an administrative position, preferably in a not-for-profit work environment
Some college preferred
Fluency in English and Spanish required
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing
Strong attention to detail
SouthSide Early Childhood Center is currently seeking substitute teacher candidates to join our team. Candidates must have at least 6 college credit hours in Early Childhood or a related field. Position hours may vary but typically are 8:30am–3pm. Pay is $90/day.
SouthSide Early Childhood Center is current seeking floaters for various hours throughout the day. Candidates must have 6 college credit hours in early childhood or a related field. Pay is $13/hr.
Extended day teacher
SouthSide Early Childhood Center is currently looks for extended day teachers to join our team. Candidates must have at least 6 college credit hours in Early Childhood or a related field. We are looking for motivated individuals who are passionate about early childhood education, and want to be part of an innovative program. Position hours are from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., pay is $15/hour.
